Happy New Month Beloved!
Some of you may have looked at today’s title and wondered,
#ABANGER&ABOOK… what’s that?
Well, I’m glad you asked! Apart from a pretty ingenious pun—Abanger… A banger… Elsie Abang… get it?😂 —it’s also an idea I had to highlight a song and a book to the Beloved here on Substack.
Let’s dive right in!
The Banger
Falling For You - David Chinwuba

I came across this song about a month ago, and before I ever hit play to listen to it for the first time, I prayed this prayer:
Lord, help me listen to this song the way You hear it.
All I can say is that I was completely blown away by the genuine love that flowed out of this song. It was an ode to the King, and a serenade to the Lover of our Souls. It was full of spirit and truth, and more than a song, it was true worship.
I hope you enjoy this song as much as I did!

I picked up this book after it was recommended to me time and time again, and I’m SO glad that I did!
Therapy is something I’ve thought about from time to time, but given how inaccessible it can be at times, and how finding the right psychologist is sometimes as tumultuous as dating, it’s something I keep putting off. However, this book is a fantastic resource to begin the journey of self-awareness and healing.
I learned so much about myself and my relationships, and the best part is that it is all based on biblical principles. There was scripture to back up everything! For me, it really reinforced the fact that Jesus and therapy do not need to be mutually exclusive.
If you struggle with people-pleasing or have issues setting boundaries with yourself and others, please don’t hesitate and get your hands on this book!
About the Book
Boundaries is the book that's helped over 4 million people learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of their lives.
Does your life feel like it's out of control? Perhaps you feel like you have to say yes to everyone's requests. Maybe you find yourself readily taking responsibility for others' feelings and problems. Or perhaps you focus so much on being loving and unselfish that you've forgotten your own limits and limitations. Or maybe it's all of the above.
In the New York Times bestseller, Boundaries, Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend help you learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of your life and set healthy, biblical boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself.
Endnote: Hope you’re all excited for the month of November! As the year draws to a close it can be an exciting time, but also a nerve-wracking one as you wonder whether your unachieved goals or dreams for the year will come to pass. It can be hard to remember, and even more difficult to believe, but if God could create the world in 6 days, 2 months is more than enough time for Him to turn your life around. Don’t forget that it’s often at the eleventh hour—when all hope seems lost—that the greatest miracles take place… :)
Written with love,
Elsie Abang
